1st XI To Halt Baptism of Fire?

T. Abrahams

Youngsters providing hope.

This is a very tough post to write, so I will keep it short.

After a very good start to the season, things seem to have imploded since the league matches began. Wasfee’s men, being led by Taariq Behardien in his absence due to injury, have had a real baptism of fire in their first season back in the 1B.

We have suffered 2 loses in the first 2 league games of the season and were put to the slaughter by Dominic Tello in the AMA 20/20 Semi final that was sandwiched in-between.

I will not focus on the performances and the results can viewed on the results page, but suffice to say we have discovered some of our shortcomings and it undoubtedly has been addressed by the coach during training.

There have been a couple of positives to emerge in the last few weeks and that is the performances of 2 youngsters in the team, namely Tauhier Abrahams and Waseem Mukkadam. Both these youngsters have shown huge potential and are testaments the statement that the OCC has a bright future.

One of the many new recruits, Aqeel Burns, has been able to get his Ottoman career off to a fairly positive start and long may it continue.

We look forward now to a hugely anticipated derby against Montrose and I am sure the boys do not need any motivation to get jacked up for this one. The injury list, which admittedly has played its part in the poor start to the season but is still no excuse, is starting to dwindle down and we look forward to welcoming them back with a victory.

So gentleman... Go out there and show the world your worth. The past is in the past... upwards and onwards to the taste of victory. Let us, again, sing Those Three Little Words...
